The integrated stack is the differentiator — not any individual layer. ## How Weathersafe works Local enumerators visit every farm in a coffee washing station (CWS) catchment and GPS-map farm boundaries, count trees, record tree age and capture farmer database via a mobile app. The platform clusters mapped farms into geographic groups using K-means clustering on field centroids. Satellites re-score these polygons weekly for crop health, deforestation change and land-use history against the 31 December 2020 cut-off date. A hyper-local weather model triggers threshold-based SMS alerts to farmers (e.g. mulch at 28°C, spray before forecast rainfall). Cherry intake at the washing station is captured digitally, linking every kilogram of cherry to a specific farm and farmer. General scout visits run every two weeks per farm and capture intervention history (training, pest observations, leaf health). A separate annual flowering scout samples representative plots in a two-stage W-formation, counts branches and flowers on five trees per plot, and feeds a six-month-ahead cherry yield forecast. It is delivered through coffee washing stations as monthly farmer training, nursery operations, cherry pulp composting and demo farms. Demo farms ran alongside the satellite and weather work — collaboratively with farmers — not before it. On-farm practices include optimal tree density (2,500 → 4,400 trees per hectare), banana intercropping at 3-metre spacing between trees, erosion channels (the Fishbone System), banana-leaf mulching, weather-triggered actions and geo-tagged scouting. Eucalyptus leaves are gathered from surrounding forest as mulch elsewhere; on a GAP77 farm, the mulch source is the banana intercrop's yellowing/damaged leaves — alkaline, renewable and on-farm. Eucalyptus mulch acidifies coffee soils below the 5.5–6.5 pH band where coffee absorbs NPK efficiently. **Post-rain harvest mechanism (canonical):** after heavy rain, the soil holds a reservoir of dissolved nutrients. Over the days that follow, the coffee tree pulls that water up through its roots and into the cherries, translocating dissolved nutrients into sugars and aromatic precursors. Cherry Brix rises through the dry week as the translocation completes.
